I cannot believe you do that. Its absurd and useless. If a virus is gone then its gone. I installed NIS 2009 and downloaded and tested tons of viruses, keylogges and code injections. NIS found and stopped them. There is never a reason to reformat unless your OS is corrupt. I have using the same install of XP for over 5 years now. You are over reacting and need help fast.
Here go to this site and test NIS. And no you do not have to reformat. Why in the world do you do that. If I had to reformat it would take me weeks to get my pc back to where it was.

There is really no need to be so scared about a format.
You could try superantispyware as a second opinion. www.superantispyware.com
Besides that try Norton AntiBot as extra protection next to NIS
Hey stu after doing some testing I have fund that Threatfire works better abnd find more stuff then Anti Bot. Just try the System Shutdwon Simulator and you will see Anti Bot fails the HIPS test. Plus Threatfire is free and low on resources.

Unfortunately I have to say you are right. But hey, Symantec recently bought TF so it will probably be implemented in future products
