Hello,
I am new to this forum so i don't know if i've posted enough information for you people. But here is the problem.
I downloaded and installed Norton's Add On pack on my Norton Internet Security 2009. I used the parental control and set it to "only allow sites i've typed into the parental control". It works well at first. But recently, i found out that the parental control is not blocking any sites already.
My Norton Internet Security version is currently version 16.5.0.135
My add on pack is currently version 3.5.0.24
I am not using any other anti-virus products.
My window's parental control is off.
I hope these information are enough. And thanks in advance =).
Cheers.
Greetings,
Thanks for the reply, PapzuZ.
Well, i tried restarting my computer. It doesn't works.
And no, no one can disable it as i've put in password protection.
Well, these are what i tried. But when i tried to post this message, i noticed that i cannot see the word verification. So i thought to myself : "Is the parental control working again?". Therefore, i tried setting the user's control to unrestricted and i noticed i can see the word verification.
So, the parental control is working again. But i know the problem will come back. Sometimes it just stop working and works again.
I don't want this to happen though. So perhaps i should turn on windows parental control until someone finds a fix for me?
Regards,
Pikachu

You can try to reinstall the software too. It usually helps, because after updates, and program installs, changes, etc. it can “damage” somehow what can be solved by a reinstall.
To do it follow these steps:
1. Download the latest setup packages and the norton removal tool:
- www.norton.com/nis09 (EN-US version, if you need other language version, just tell us, and we will give you the link)
- http://www.symantec.com/norton/products/parental-controls/index.jsp (you need version 3.0 for NIS2009)
2. Save you Identity Safe and Parental Control settings
3. Run the norton removal tool 2-3 times. It will delete every norton product, plus the files and registry keys related to the products.
4. Reboot
5. Reinstall and activate your products from the downloaded files
Greetings, Papauz.
I appreciate that you used your time in answering this question, but i don’t really see the need to uninstall everything now.
And it’s only the parental control which has the problem, i’d just uninstall it and reinstall. But thanks anyway.
If anyone had the same problem and managed to solve it, perhaps you can share your solutions with me =)
More information here. I am using Windows VIsta 64 bit.
Sincerely,
Pikachu

You can try that too... But as NIS and AOP are developed so, that they work really close together, and when one has a problem, mostly the other one has some errors too, or NIS can generate the error to, as it gets updates more frequently (so more opportunity to get a file/regkey error).
If you did the AOP reinstall, please let us know the result.
Hi Pikachu,
Just try the OnlineFamily.Norton from Symantec. OnlineFamily.Norton is an Internet-based new parental-control system(free service currently) that can protect and manage each child's Internet access on all Windows PCs or Macs in the home. It is highly improved version of Parantal Control component from Norton, the best among the existing parental control programs. It’s easy to set up, access, and use. You can see which sites each child visits, how long they spend there, and how long they’ve been online. You can also set limits on what websites each child can visit, what terms they can’t search, who they can talk to, and how long they can be online. And, so long as you have access to a PC, either at home, work, or beyond, you’ll receive an email notification when your kids do things they shouldn’t. You’ll know when they’ve tried to visit a website that you’ve blocked or when they’ve reached their online time limit. And you’ll know instantly, in time to do something about it. You can find more information on this Symantec Press Release.

Greetings, yogesh_mohan.
I am sorry, but i have no intention on using the “OnlineFamily.Norton”. From what i’ve heard, it will only be free for a limited amount of time. Well, that is not the reason why i don’t wish to change to it.
The reason is that my problem now is with Norton Add-On pack. I do not wish to move to another family protection just because i cannot solve this problem of mine.
I hope you understand. Thanks for the reply anyway.
Sincerely,
Pikachu
Update :
It seems like the problem returned when i leave my computer idle and it goes into standby mode.
