This isn't necessarily a Norton issue, but my Norton products certainly are saving my bacon. My C drive partition keeps going bad. On a restart, it goes into Windows chkdsk and does the infamous "replacing invalid security id" action where EVERY file is fixed. It then logs into Windows (XP Pro, btw) and I can't access the Start button or anything. I just see the desktop. I do nightly backups with Ghost 14 (good thing), but when I try to restore, it goes back to the chkdsk thing again.
Long story short, I have to boot from my Partition Magic boot disc. It boots up with the partition as read only. I have to remove the read only setting, delete the partition, recreate it then restore with Ghost and all is fine, until I reboot. Any ideas why the partition is going bad? No dual boots or any other odd thing. Just a basic Windows installation. HELP!!!
