Partition Magic 8 and RAID

I need a little help up sizing my hard drives.

I have a RAID1 setup currently at 160GB. I want to bump that to 1TB. I picked up a couple of new SATA drives yesterday but before I started ripping components out of my computer wanted to bounce it off you folks.

So here’s my plan.

Pull out one of my 160GB drives and put in a new 1TB drives. Re-boot and let the RAID array rebuild. I believe that the array will re-build to 160GB and just ignore the remainder of the new drive.

Next swap the remaining 160GB drive with the other new 1TB drive and let the array re-build. At this point I should still have a 160GB RAID 1 array.

Finally use Partition Magic to resize the partition to take full advantage of the 1TB drives now in the array.

Anybody see any reason that would not work?

BTW the system is a Dell XPS 600 with XP Home installed on it using an onboard RAID controller.

Thanks for any guidance
