I was running Partition Magic 7.0 on my Win XP Pro PC to make a space for Ubuntu Linux, when my PC froze. I was forced to power down and restart. Now, when I reboot and select Win XP as my OS, I get the Win XP splash screen, and then a blue screen with a message that PM will start up and finish its chores. It then tells me I have the option to cancel but hitting any key. Sadly, hitting a key does nothing. The DOS blue screen output continues until it stops with an error code.
I did manage to get Ubuntu up and running in a different partition, and it displays "OS" as one of my devices. OS seems to be my old XP C: drive - all my old files are there, I can read them, copy them, etc. But, I can't complete the loading of Win XP! I hope I made myself clear and didn't get anything wrong. How do I get Win Startup to stop trying to finish the PM script? Is there something in C:\WINDOWS that I can remove or edit??
