Not my area of expertise although I have used PM8.01 until I added VISTA to my system and PM8 is not compatible with the small change that MS made in the file structure there -- but that should not be your problem since you are on XP.
Some thoughts:
Can you merge FAT32 and NTFS without first converting the FAT32 to NTFS? Easy to make the conversion either using the module in Windows (that only works one way >NTFS) or using the function in PM8.
Can you perform the operation from Windows booted to SAFE mode?
Can you do it by booting up to the CD so that the Windows partition is not active on the area you are working on? This assumes that you are dealing with a single drive that includes the system drive.
You did, after entering what you wanted to do into PM8, then instruct it to carry out the changes? I got caught by that when I was rushing even if PM8 issues a warning that you have not actually done what the script says you want done?
I don't know about the chat function -- I've heard about not being able to load the module but I did not have that trouble the one time I used chat. You aren't being overprotected by your security software are you? You could look in the Security Log and see if it announces it blocked the installation of yyyyyy.
Sorry to ask questions rather than give answers but sometimes that is the only way when you aren't hands-on to the computer.
PS Don't be surprised if you come back and find this thread moved -- PM is dealt with under Other Norton Programs. But the system leaves you a link if it is moved. Norton Staff have their names in red and they should be able to help on the Chat function.
Did you click apply or just ok? since this is usually done in the dos enviroment, you might want to do one operation at a time, to make sure that things got done properly.
