Issue abstract: Norton Password Manager stopped entering logins/passwords on Google Chrome browser on Win 11 26H2 PC on 9/22/2026.
Detailed description: Beginning on the 22 of September 2026, Norton Password Manager would show the available login entry but stopped automatically filling the login/password fields on Google Chrome browser v.153.0.8010.53 (Official Build) (64-bit) on my Windows 11 26H2 (build 26300.9550). I would have to manually copy/paste the login entries. After finding a similar issue in the Norton Community (ref: Password Manager suddenly stopped entering login information on all websites (13 Jul 2026)), I uninstalled NPM and then reinstalled the extension. That did not resolve the issue. I tested NPM on Vivaldi browser v.8.2.4133.68 (Official Build) (64-bit) and it worked with no issue.
Product & version number: Norton Password Manager
OS details: Windows 11 Pro 26H2 build 26300.9550
What is the error message you are seeing? No error messages
If you have any supporting screenshots, please add them: screenshots are not able to collect the available login popup.
@bjm, thank you for the screenshots. I do get the popups from NPM, as you have captured, but NPM does not fill the e-mail nor the password into their respective fields. I did uninstall Google Chrome browser (v.153.0.8010.53) and reinstalled it with v. 154.0.8037.58 (Official Build) (64-bit) but that did not solve my current issue.
@bjm, apologies for some confusion on my part. I know NPM does not autopopulate and my lack of specificity led to this confusion.
Yes, I do get the small, yellow Norton icon inside the username/password fields and the appropriate username/passwords are shown when I select the icon. However, upon selecting the icon, no information is transferred into either of the fields; they remain blank.
This behavior is exhibited on all websites in Google Chrome browser. It does work in Vivaldi, Firefox, MS Edge. It is quite possible that 26H2 broke it but I installed 26H2 on 29 August; this issue popped up on 22 September.
The larger issue may actually be that your version of Windows 11 is an insider build. Norton has in the past functioned well with insider builds while I was in the Insider program for Windows 10 years ago.
@bjm, Google Chrome updated to v. 154.0.8037.58 overnight. In the chrome://flags page, I did not find neither “Autofill prediction improvements” nor “Enable password generation/filling for third-party password managers” flags. The closest I found were “Show Autofill predictions” and “Enable password sharing with remote actors”. I did turn off Use graphics acceleration when available but that had no effect as did checking for the “Page Zoom” Invalidation.
@peterweb, yes, I do click on the information that is presented when I click on the icon. The information does not fill in the available fields.
@SoulAsylum, you bring up an interesting point concerning my version of Windows 11 being an Insider build. I turned off my enrollment in the Insider builder program at 07:30 Sunday morning, I will wait until Monday morning to allow my PC to be unregistered in the program and run Windows Update before attempting another try using Norton Password Manager in Chrome. I will let you all know the results of that test.
@bjm, While I stopped my Windows Insider subscription, I am not able to revert back to 25H2 as it is past the 72-hour point-in-time window. However, that issue may be moot as I tested NPM in a New Chrome Profile this morning with success. Then I reset my profile’s settings to its original defaults and it works. I consider this issue closed.
Thank you @bjm , @peterweb , and @SoulAsylum for your suggestions and patience in this matter!
