My question is not related to Avast, but in reading through posts, your advice sounded simple and to the point, hence my response to you about Norton 360, version 4.0 that I recently purchased and installed. After doing to, my PC does not seem to "recognize" my digital camera, or Droid phone. Previously, when I would plug in usb cable to PC and then camera, a window would pop up with options such as "download to PC", etc.. Now that window briefly flashes up, but does not stay. I had Staples "clean up" my PC to improved performance and in general, make operations better. I did this just prior to a very busy 60 day run of work (I'm a fly fishing guide and had 57 trips over 60 day time period...not a lot of computer use then). What computer needs I did have, I used our home Mac for. Staples 30 day policy to any lingering issues regarding their service has expired. Now they want additional $$ to even look at computer to get certain functions back to where they were prior to their service.
Any suggestions appreciated, I feel like Staples pretty much took me to the cleaners, as performance is not much better and now certain functions that did work before, no longer do....?
Thank you,
Jeff

What operating system is on your machine? XP has issues with USB on occasion. Does the machine recognize that a USB device has been plugged in? Do you here the tone, or see the icon in the taskbar? When plugged in, does device manager show any yellow warning signs?
Hi Jeff,
Try the solution from the following thread:
http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Internet-Security-Norton/Camera-not-recognized/m-p/312392
Also, go to Settings > My Network in Norton 360. Click Configure[+] next to Network Security Map. Check if your digital camera or phone is shown there as a device and set to Full Trust.
Yogesh
