My friends XP PC has failed to boot up displaying message Norton Goback 126
'Norton Go Back has detected a partition signature in the MBR on Disc #1 but links to Norton Go Back's data/0 bin are broken. NGB will need to scan HD for its data file and then restore MBR.'
It then asks if you wish to recover and when replying 'yes' the scanning only goes to 17% then stops. This has happened on several occasions.
What is MBR?
Unsure if he can boot up in safe mode.
Has anyone got any ideas as to how he can get this PC booted up?
