PC freezing / super slow

Hi - I am not PC savvy, so please be kind and dumb down your responses for me!  I used to have the McAfee suite offered by Comcast Internet which worked fine for years. Comcast recently switched to Norton and since then, my computer crawls or freezes altogether.  My computer goes to 100% capacity frequently and I cannot open more than one program at a time. The programs I can open take several minutes to open and I can't use the internet with more than one window open at a time.  I can't be on the internet while another program is running.  Our PC meets the minimum requirements. We uninstalled the McAfee via Comcast's "easy switch over" to Norton. Not sure what to do??

Do you have the Comcast toolbar installed on the PC? If so uninstall it and see if that helps. I was reading a thread in the Comcast security forum in which the poster stated that they were having a lot of problems with the Comcast Norton Security Suite until they uninstalled the Comcast toolbar.

Hello carolet66

I think the use of the McAfee removal tool would help also. I know the Comcast Norton Security Suite is supposed to remove McAfee for you, but it may be a good idea to run that tool also just to make sure that it is completely removed. I know previous users of the regular McAfee program need to use the McAfee removal tool before installing another security program. Perhaps that will help also. Do you have any other real time scanners installed in your computer?

floplot and Turbo - good day!

carolet66 by their own admission is not very PC savvy, so I'd like to suggest taking this one step at a time.

Turbo mentioned the COMCAST Toolbar causing problems.  This is true in that user's case and may be true for others, so if why don't we let carolet66 disable the COMCAST Toolbar first and see if that helps.

carolet66, I would guess you are using Internet Explorer, so left click on View, then hover over Toolbars and remove the Check Mark from COMCAST Toolbar, reboot your PC and see if you have the same symptoms.

Post back here and let us know the results.

If no joy, then floplot, we can get into the McAfee Removal Tool and what I am afraid will end up to be the complete removal and reinstall of CNSS.  We'll see where to go next once we get carolet66's reply on the toolbar.

I hope this approach is acceptable with ya'll.
