PC Stops Responding After Norton Internet Security 2011 Install

I found a identical message from another Norton client in this forum and followed the steps suggested and I still have the problem.

 

Summary:

 

I have a brand new ACER Aspire 5750-9668, windows 7 home premium, SP1. I was very pleased with my new lap top's performance INTEL CORE i7 until I purchased and installed Norton's Internet Security 2011.

 

My PC now stops responding frequently, I have to force it to shut down, it then gives me the option to re-start on SAFE MODE because the last session did not close properly. I've done this a couple of dozen times. It's very frustrating.

 

On the message I found on this forum, it was suggested to install and run the latest norton updates, which I did. The problem is still there. I then installed and ran the software removal tool. I completely unistalled all norton components and resinstalled Norton Internet Security 2011.

 

It seemed to work for a day but then I started to have the same problem.

 

I've noticed that it blocks when it "runs the background tasks" everytime the message on the lower right corner of my screen appears advising me that it is running tasks in the background the computer stops responding.

 

Also, when I step away for a few minutes and the Screen Saver kicks in everything freezes, nothing works forcing me to shut it down again.

 

Please HELP!!!
