PC won't boot

I have a dead PC that won't boot. The PC itself is OK but Windows XP is corrupt and I haven't been able to recover it.  I have a boot-able CD that I have used and I can see all the files on the hard drive.  I want to backup the hard drive before I do a Widows XP system recovery. I am looking at purchasing Ghost 15, creating a recovery disk on another PC, running the recovery disk on the dead PC and then creating a ghost image of my hard drive.

Will ghost work for my dilemma or is their another Norton product that will work?
