Permit a File I Trust -- HOW?

I am trying to unzip a system utility that I trust.  (ProduKey from Nir-Soft.)

NIS will not allow it.  WHen I try to extract it from the ZIP file, I see this in the tray:

block.png

When I click View Details, I see this dialog:

block2.png

I know and trust this file and want to use it.

BUT:  I cannot for the life of me figure out how to create an exception.

There seem to be no settings for "File Insight", the term that appears in this dialog.  There are settings for "Insight Network" but they are simply On/Off.  No "configure."  Of course, I am not even sure if AutoProtect based on File Insight is the same thing as Insight Network.

FOr that matter, I am not sure what AutoProtect is.  I see no settings for "AutoProtect" which is referenced in both dialogs.  The only Auto-anything is Intrusion AutoBlock, but that does not come into play here.

I'm really at a loss here. I cannot find a way to whitelist a file that I trust.

Nope, that doesn't work.

Please open NIS, go to Quarantine and try to restore the file from Quarantine. When you do so, you should get the option to exclude the file from future scans. Select this option.

does it still say "auto-protect block this Security Assessment tool"? or did it change the name? if you're confident that the file isn't malicious and that you downloaded directly from the maker, then turn off AntiVirus and AntiSpyware from the main ui and then try again.

Yaso_Kuuhi:

The file does not appear in the quarrantine

@whiplash:  yes, same message appears when "Security Assessment Tools" is uncheced from the Antispyware options.

I am able to extract the file by turning Antispyware off.  However, if I turn it back on, it detects and removes the file.

Got it working by going to:

Settings > Computer Settings > Exclusions > Signature Exclusions > Configure

Then ADD, scroll list to find ProduKey and add it to the exceptions.

*phew* that was hard.

Editorial:  NIS really works against the advanced user!
