Here is some add'l info on my computer:

Windows Vista Home Premium

Service Pack 1

Toshiba

Satellite A305D

AMD Turion X2 Dual-Core Mobile RM-70  2.00 GHz

3.00 GB  RAM

32-bit Operating System

It's version 2.4.0.4.  Does that make a difference to any of the steps?

The steps are the same.

If you were using version 1 I would just have told you to upgrade to version 2.0.
Please let me know if any of the steps solved the issue before you uninstall and reinstall.

I had the same problems described.  I followed your instructions and I still have the same problem.  I am not going to uninstall and reinstall right away because in the past this has not solved the problems I have had with Norton 360.  I will wait until I have more time or I see reports that uninstalling worked.

None of those steps fixed my problem.  It still has the ‘Phishing Protection Expired’ tab at the top of my browser.  I am really hesitant to uninstall and re-install due to past experiences.  Are there any other steps or suggestions?

Hi,

I have a valid subscription, about 332 days left, and my phishing protection says it's expired.  I ran all scans and they come back as good or normal and I can't seem to get the phishing protection back on board.  I did the LiveChat thing but they want to remotely connect and this makes me edgy.  I had a previous laptop that had a Norton AV 2008 on it and there was something wrong after having it for a couple of years.  R(emote) C(onnection) techs accessed it, removed and then could not reinstall.  I went through 4 or 5 RC techs and was finally told there was nothing they could do and to send a diagnostic email to the Norton Research team which they gave me the addy for.  I never heard from ANYONE.  Soon after, my hard drive crashed and was inoperable. Coincedence?  I'm still out on that one.

Remote support is your best bet. As for you hard drive crashing and dying, it was probably at the end of its lifespan anyways. As hard drives age, data corruption becomes more prevalent, which may have caused difficulty in installing/uninstalling programs. Anyways, they did not have physical access to the drive...so...

Contact a support rep. Tell them that you want to completely uninstall your norton product and to remove all folders and registary entries. Then, install Norton 2009, which you upgrade to for free.

Support said it was an internal issue and sent me to a page to d/l a file to install into the registry, which didn't resolve the problem.

I ended up going to RC route and they uninstalled it and re-installed it, which works now and is running smoothly, I just hope it continues to.

Thanks for the feedback – glad it is resolved.

Based on smarketto's success. I uninstalled and reinstalled.  It seems to have fixed the problem.  I won't feel sure until next Monday.  I seem to get problems on a Monday as if Norton releases big software changes on Monday.

Thanks for the help.

Watch out – today is Black Tuesday and Microsoft have issued their monthly bunch of critical updates …

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has any advice on how to fix this problem?  I wasn't going to worry about it but now I get error messages saying  that the Symantec Framework has stopped working and it closes out the program completely. I spoke to LiveChat and they want me to completely uninstall but now I'm nervous if they are even going to install it again.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Hello smarketto.

This is a tricky problem to solve without uninstall and reinstall Norton. Are you using version 1.0 or version 2.0 of Norton 360?

What you could try is to download and run the LMTS-tool (LicenseManagerTroubleShooting-tool) that deletes the cache of the licensemanager for Norton on your computer.
ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/linked_files/shared_tech/SymLMTS.exe
Then run the SymKBFix from the link below. (SymKBFix automatically repairs damaged Symantec activation files)

ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/linked_files/nav/SymKBFix.EXE

Reboot the computer and re-activate Norton with your productkey (Open Norton - My account - Activate Norton 360)
The run LiveUpdate and install any updates there.

If the problem is still there I am out of ideas and would uninstall and reinstall Norton following the steps on this link.
