Sorry, if I knew who to ask I probably wouldn't need to ask!
I have received an email from a .pl address with a ".dot", password protected attachment, WHICH I HAVE NOT OPENED (password provided) giving my name and address. It purports to come from a concerned citizen who has been sent the document in error, suggesting that the attachment contains my personal data which has been breached.
I suspect it is a phishing email, but of course if it is not I need to know what information may be in the public domain. Very clever.
Know the feeling only too well -- but always remember that the only stupid question is the one you don't ask! And you may have helped someone else directly or indirectly.
Know you know where to find us keep on asking and also helping others -- that's how the Forums work!
If you have questions about the Norton Security you have then better to ask in:
pl Poland nl Netherlands and pw Palau are prolific sources of spamming at least on my computer and so I have set the blocking filter in my email client to automatically treat emails from those Country Domains as Spam.
They still show in my Junk File which I prefer to automatic deletion just in case of a mistake.
If you haven't had them you are also likely to get one telling you that a UPS parcel could not be delivered, plus of course that nice banker who wants to send you money!
For any more details of how to set things etc please let us know:
What version of Windows are you using including Service Packs and whether 32 bit or 64 bit as well as the Name and Version ID of the Norton product that you are using -- Help or Support / About is where that is, in the format ofnn.nn.nn.nnnwhere n is a number.
If you have the COMCAST version of Norton 360 / Security Suite and not the normal retail version please be sure to tell us.
Please also say what internet browser you are using -- name and version number -- and how you collect your email eg Windows Live Mail etc.
