Hi Andmike

Thanks for getting back to me. Already tried text buddies got my partner to text me unlock all lower case still didn't work.

Not sure what version I have of NMS all I know is I downloaded the app Dec06 last year from android market.

When I switch the phone on now I get message saying device is locked sim card is missing but it isn't it's inside the phone .

Just as a matter of interest is there any point in me ringing my mobile operator to see if they could unlock it for me.

Hello again richie05.

Sorry you are not having any luck.  If you downloaded NMS in December it should have insisted that you set up at least two "Buddies" and it should now be showing you who those two buddies are.  Is it doing that and was the phone that your partner used one of those buddies?

If your partner's phone was one that you set up as a buddy but the Norton lock screen is not telling you about buddies then the SMS message that your partner should send to your phone from the buddy phone is

unlock 987654321

that is just the word unlock in lower case a single space and then your partner's mobile phone number with no leading zeros, no symbols, no extra spaces and no international dialing code.

Oh and did you install the Norton Anti-Theft plugin?  I suspect the answer is no if you do not think that you have updated since early December.

I look forward to hearing from you.  Good luck.

[Edit - sorry I forgot your last point.  No I don't think there is much point in contacting your provider at the moment as I don't think they can get around the Norton lock which is on your phone not the network.  The software appears to be doing what it was supposed to do if it thinks your SIM card has been removed.  Why it thinks that is another issue.]

One clarification. The version that enforces creating buddies only requires the unlock command. It no longer requires the phone number.

Hello Again Andmike

My own stupid fault I forgot to mention my partner had a new phone for Christmas and it was her old phone I used as a Buddie anyway when I remembered I did as you explained and hay presto It's fine and working

one happy chap:smileyvery-happy:

Delighted to hear the good news richie05.

I suggest that you now make sure:

- that you have updated NMS to the latest version (you can use live update)

- create a new password (and make a note of it) and finally

- create at least two buddies with current mobile numbers (their phones must be able to send SMS messages).

All the best.

Ok I don't have anyone hooked up to a buddy list because my friends don't text so I want to send myself a reset then verify that.  How can I go about doing that via my Norton.

I've read your responses to the other user but that won't work for me since I have no buddy list and noone on the list who can text   Isn't there a way to unlock my phone for myself.  I sent myself two text messages via my Tmobile acct what more does one one.  I will probably take Norton off my phone once I get back in because this could be a real disaster on a business trip.  Also I entered my norton password which I know is correct and it won't accept it.  So it isn't a good system. no fall back position.

If we could just clarify what version of Norton Mobile Security (NMS) you have

installed on your Android device.?

To assist are 2 images of the NMS UI, does the NMS app you have installed look
