Phone number not recognized by carrier

Norton Privacy Manager

Under PRIVACY in Settings on iPHONE on IOS, there is no listing of Norton Privacy Manager. Also under the app section, there are no choices listed for this problem under Norton Privacy Manger. I understand case went to Concern department. There was an Apple security and system update. I think an update is needed in the App Store. The app does not recognize my phone number with carrier records. This is about all I can do on my end. It is a good app. Just has a kink.
I sent in the screenshot as requested. Every time I try to start Norton Privacy Manager, I cannot continue to use the app. I do not understand why my phone number does not match carrier records. The number is registered to my iPhone,
This app did work for about 1 week in early July, then stopped. I keep on getting this message after writing in my telephone number and doing the Captha. After that, I get the message in the screen shot sent in.
I want to use the freeware part of PM. My case number is 39588868

Hi!

@Philwoods I sent a PM to confirm if the info I was passed was correct.

Looking at your records, I believe you were able to use the phone app prior to an update that required you to verify your phone number. That also means you have an app password created for your account (essentially, you have to type a password twice, one for your Norton Account, the other for your NPM vault).

If above is true, I would advise you to now uninstall the app and reinstall (just to clear out any potential cache thats interfering with the app). Once you get to the Norton Account login page after accepting the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, type in your Norton Account password. After this, you should no longer receive/see the error flow.

If the above is NOT true where you did NOT create an App Password (again, different from the Norton Account password), we'll need to have a different conversation. Lets see if the above solution helps you out first!

Let me know if these steps work for you.

Posting screenshots from a mobile device is a little more involved than those from a PC. What I do is take the screenshot on the mobile device, then email it to my PC. Open the image on the PC, then use the Windows Snipping Tool to create a .jpg file. Be sure you mask any personal information. Then, instructions to post screenshots can be found here

It’s been a long time, phone # not recognized by carrier, I forgot what NPM does.

Still getting pop up PHONE NUMBER NOT REVOGNIZED BY CARRIER. I’ll try to send you screen shot but Sunil must have it on record. Latest update IOS 13.2.2 and App Store update. Screen shot will not upload. I need a private message.
PhilWoods

Hi all!

Thanks so much for the ongoing work @peterweb. @Philwoods I sent you a PM! @Sunil_GA shoot me a message on slack when you have time!

@Philwoods

Please check your forum inbox at the top right of the forum pages.

I wish I could be more help here, but this is a back end issue. I'll try to get help again.

@Sunil_GA

Can you get some update on this? I had the same issue and the team had to whitelist my phone number

Norton Privacy Manager. I cannot still sign on. I get Resposible Anonimity each time. I am uploading the screen shots. I am not uploading the 2nd one after my name which has my cell number. When I click next after this page, I get that my number is not recognized by my carrier. It has been a very long time and Norton has not come up with a solution. Should I give up on this app. Norton really does not understand the IOS system as another company. I cannot upload the screen shot but you have it on file. If you want both, send me a private message from a moderator. How long does it take to arrive at a solution or in my opinion, Norton is not concerned with Apple products.

I still have the same problem with iPhone 7 at latest update, 13.1.3. In Norton Privacy Manager, my phone number is not recognized by carrier. I’ve sent in screen shots. This problem has been escalated to various support departments. Still no fix. This app is useless and there are many apps that do the same and more. This support ticket has been going on for many months. I’m just going to delete this app. I always found Norton and IOS or Mac to be incompatible. This app proves it. Apple and Norton do not mix.

Thx Suni

Hi @Philwoods,

I have reported above issue to concern team and asked for an update on issue. I will update once i get details on this case in forum post.

Hi Peter
Unfortunately I did what said but the new version did not work. I received the same pop up, RESPONDSIBLE ANOMYMITY.
Thx for your help

And does the new version help with your issue?

Try Uninstalling NPM from the iOS Settings > General > iPhone Storage. Scroll down to Norton Privacy Manager and tap on it. Then tap on Delete App. That should clear out all data and settings stored for NPM. Then go to the Apple App Store app and reinstall NPM with the new version. Then test to see if you are able to get authorized.

Thx to you Peter for replying, no one from the concern Dept has contacted me.
Thx

It is not an issue with iOS. It is an issue with the code that connects to the numerous cell carriers to verify your number is valid. I had this issue some time ago, and my contact had to whitelist my number to get my access to the app.

I'll try yet another contact to see if I can get help.

Edit

There is also an update for Norton Privacy Manager for iOS to ver 1.2     See https://community.norton.com/en/blogs/product-update-announcements/norton-privacy-manager-12-mobile-now-available    See if this helps.

I tried this app in WiFi with cellular data turned on or off in WiFi settings and non WiFi settings. It did not make a difference. I still received the RESPONSIBLE ANONYMITY pop up.
RE: NORTON PRIVACY MANAGER

I just received the latest update to iPhone, 13.1.1. When signing in to Norton Privacy Manager, I still get the REPONSIBLE ANONYMITY dialog. My number is not recognized by my carrier. This is a problem that should have been addressed during installation when you are given choices for the various permissions. There is nothing I can do in SETTINGS. An update needs to be developed by Norton through Apple in the App Store. I understand this problem went to Norton’s concern department. Two others on the forum have replied to me with the same problem. It’s been so long, it’s ready to get the life boats and get out. If I have not used an app in a longtime, therefore I don’t need it. ( a—-dn). Let a = app, dn= don’t need). It is an IOS problem and an update by the developers is needed. If there was no solution before Apple’s system update, the concern department will need to start all over for 13.1.1 and pretty soon, most likely 13,1.2. I tried to upload the RESPONSIBLE ANONYMITY screenshot but it does not have the right extension.

I'll try another contact to see if they can help.

Thx. I just received the IOS 13 iPhone update. No change. Still not recognized. I cannot upload the Responsible Anonimity screenshot I always get after signing in.
