I have NIS09 on my machine. Recently I've noticed that liveupdate has stopped working (probably for about 6 weeks now). When I run it from NIS09, I get the error message "unable to connect to the Norton liveupdate server. Please check you internet connection." My internet connection is fine and I can connect to most websites including www.symantec.com, but not liveupdate.symantec.com. When I ping liveupdate.symantec.com from command line, I get a reply from 127.0.01. I can't connect to download.microsoft.com either. It is being pointed to 127.0.0.1 as well.
I've looked at the host files, there is no bogus entries. I've tried to run SDFix and it removed three rootkit infections at the first time, but then it reported no further infections after that. This, however, didn't fix my liveupdate issue.
Does anyone else have a similar problem?
