So i believe i got a virus and i ran Norton 360 virus scan but it said it did not find anything but the way my computer was reacting when it start up (going to startup repair and scanning and saying it fixed the errors) i knew there was still a major issue but at this point atleast i was still able to start my computer and get into windows.. I was told to try and use Norton Power Eraser and that it might help.. So after i ran NPE it found the errors that norton 360 didn't find and it was supposedly going to fix them.. But after it finished and the computer restarted i was unable to get into windows... it would go to startup repair and try to scan and fix the issue but at this point now startup repair would not even work.. i read on a post here to download the Norton rescue boot disk and to try and reverse the actions NPE made.. So after i did that now it still won't startup and when it trys theres just a dash flashing in the top corner of the screen.. I'm praying someone here can help me and get my computer to start again without losing all my files, pictures and videos i have.. it will be heartbreaking if i lose the thousands of pics and vids i have... i just don't understand why when this program was supposed to help me fix my computer that it made it worse then it already was....
Thanks in Advanced for whomever try to help..... Regards, WiL Oz
You can undo the changes made by NPE by running it again and choosing "History" button. You will be presented with a list of scan sessions that have been run on the machine.
You can still undo the changes you made to your machine via NPE, by creating NBRT tool (www.norton.com/nbrt). Choose to access the "Norton Power Eraser Recovery Scan" option to launch NPE and undo the changes you made.
Once you undo, you can run a scan with NBRT/NPE and carefully choose what to remove and what not to.
It helps to read the users posts, because why tell the user to download and use NBRT when in message 1 it already states,

I know this is a completely different products, but to be safe, you are welcome to download Norton Ghost 15, create the CD from the download, and boot from the CD. From there, you can manually copy any critical files on your machine over to a USB or network drive. If there are documents on your desktop or in your My Documents folder, this is a way to put them into a safe place while you mess around with things.
Also, you can try booting to the Windows disk, if you have one, and try the startup repair from there.
