Can you please make Normal posts. It hard to read what you wrote. I see your posts over at Wilders also. May I ask how you got infected. I have never been infected in over 5 years and I surf everything.

Hi! :smileyhappy:

Sorry to hear you may have been infected with spyware or a virus.:smileysad:

However, reading from your post, it may just be that Liveupdate may have been corrupted. Uninstalling NIS 2009 with the Norton Removal Tool (if there is one for this version :smileytongue:) and re-installing NIS 2009 should fix the problem. If you think you may have been infected, then I would recommend that you run a Full System scan. If you still think you would be infected by malware after running a full system scan, then run a second one after restarting your computer. :smileyhappy:

I hope this helps in anyway! :smileyhappy:

No reason to apologize. She posts the same info over at Wilders.

Hi Everyone :smileyhappy:

Thanks For All Your Help and Ideas :smileywink:

However... Fingers Crossed - False Alarm! :smileyvery-happy:

I'm Now Thinking...

Perhaps I just presumed there was an r on the end of iexplore in - Task Manager.

The only way I'll ever know for sure... Is if it happens again :smileysad:

If my computers are infected - God Knows How! :smileysurprised:

I'm So Scared Of Malware...

NO - Downloading Junk

NO - P2P

I delete most of my email ... Unless I'm expecting something important.

And I certainly don't visit dodgy websites.

If I'm to be any more careful... I may as well - Switch Off!

Re : Updates

I'm Happy To Report...

After running SAS in Safe Mode ... And letting it Kill the - Cookies

NIS 09 ..  Is able to update on the Laptop

AVG 8 .. is able to update on the Desktop

How did a Cookie cause so much trouble?

I Haven't Got A Clue!

But as the only thing that seemed to get my updates working again...

Was running SAS in Safe Mode

And letting it Kill the Cookies

I Can Only Presume.... Cookies - Definitely Aren't  Harmless :smileysurprised:

Note!

In the last few days...

I've noticed there has been a lot of people - With all different security software ... Having exactly the same problem

A lot of those people have also ended up using  software such as SAS or CCleaner ...

To get their security updates working again

Strange But.. True!  :smileyvery-happy:

Thanks! :smileywink:

Removal instructions for Tracking Cookie: http://www.symantec.com/en/uk/security_response/writeup.jsp?docid=2006-080217-3524-99&tabid=3.

Cookies are not harm full. If a simply program like CCleaner removes cookies then that says it all. Try deleting your cookies with your browser and you will get the same results are using CCleaner. There is another post about it.

Cookies are un-likely to cause any problems; although, there may be some people who do have Issues.

Tracking Cookies are not so harmless.

So, is it Cookies or Tracking Cookies?  I have Posted the Removal instructions for Tracking Cookies.

Hi :smileyhappy:

I don't know exactly which Cookie ... OR ... What kind of Cookie

All I Know... It was definitely a - Cookie

I know how to remove Cookies :smileywink:

Through...

IE7

CCleaner

etc.

However...

Whatever kind of Cookie was responsible for stopping Big Name ... Security Software - Updating :smileysad:

It obviously wasn't any normal kind of - Cookie

Or Even... A Normal - Tracking Cookie

I was only able to keep both NIS 09 - Laptop and AVG 8 - Desktop updating normally...

Once SAS had been run in Safe Mode

And... Cookie Killed In Safe Mode

Believe Me... I'm still finding it hard to understand :smileysurprised:

me too...i need MAGICAL COOKIES to better read your colorful posts - so are you still infected or what? did you ever figure out what it was?????

Have you noticed your computer acting odd, e.g. running slower then normal?

I was on the symantec Web Site, M.S.N. and my I.S.P. Web Site, and then a wee pop-up came up saying Norton had "Blocked an attempt to attack my computer", so, even being on Real Web Sites, you can still get Infected.

Let me guess Red it happend when you were using IE?

Moving message from postike1985 to its own thread for better exposure.

That’s hard job and hard to believe. I’m just wondering why u did full scanning twice. that’s a bit ridiculous. once on the safemode is enough. But that was good job too:)
