Since I installed NIS 2011 (about a week ago, I think) over my previous NIS 2010 (I used the "Check For New Version" option" of the notification area icon's right-click menu and followed instructions from there - everything seemed to go ok):
Every couple of days (happeded twice so far), the notification area icon "disappeared" (while I was using the computer) and I couldn't bring up the NIS 2011 screen (where you find the settings, history, last time pulse update ran, etc.) even by using the ""Start", All Programs", "Norton Internet Security", "Norton Internet Security" menu item. I had to reboot each time in order to get the icon back and be able to bring up the NIS 2011 screen.
The first time happened just after I closed IE8.
The second time happened just after I closed Outlook 2007.
I never had this occur all the time I had NIS 2010 installed (must be over a year that NIS was installed).
1. Is there any known cause for this?
2. What processes should I be looking for in order to tell if NIS 2011 is, in fact, still operating when the icon disappears?
3. I notice that, after I installed NIS 2011, "Microsoft Office Automatic Scan" was set to "off". I set it to "on". Is it "off" by default? Are there any settings that could be responsible for the behavior listed above?
