Hi,
I downloaded a program (Everyday Auto Backup) that I believe is safe and want to use. I've checked it with virustotal.com, and 52 programs - including Symantec - say it's virus free.
The problem is that NIS (version 21.2.0.38) flags it 2-3 times a day and tells me it's infected and has been quarantined. The joke is that it's still where it should be and is functioning fine. NIS Quarantine shows it's been quarantined, but as I've said, the program is still there and working as it should.
To take things one step further, I've already submitted the file to Norton's "False Positives" department. They confirmed the file is clean and said they'd change the definitions to exclude it. (I'm going to skip some details here.) I've updated the definitions dozens of times since then, but the program is still getting flagged.
In desperation, I've gone into Setting-> Computer-> Antivirus and SONAR Exclusions -> Customize exclusions and have added the program in both the "Items to Exclude from Scans" and "Items to Exclude from Auto-Protect, SONARand Download Intelligence Detection" sections.
Nonetheless, as mentioned, the program is still flagged and (theoretically) "quarantined" 2-3 times a day. Now I just click it away and "restore" it from quarantine, but I'm getting sick of the BS.
I'm generally very happy with NIS, but I find this really stupid. Can someone help me, please?
Thanks very much in advance.
