I am not using the custom recovery disk. I have Windows 7 Ultimate. I get this error when the recovery is at 93%. But if I restart the machine it takes couple of minutes to install the drivers, then it works fine.
How can you release a product like this, without testing it. Shame on you, even if it is Microsoft issue.
What a shame! Incredible for a so called backup software! We are waiting for a fix. I thought that Acronis True Image has problems but this bug is simply ridiculous. It's like buying a car without wheels. Please get some students to test the software at least once before releasing it.
As I stated earlier, it's for the situation that was outlined previously. If your situation was different, that was why I asked for clarification. I'm more than a little confused as to why you think this product was not tested.
Since your situation is different, could you provide some further details? Was the backup created from the same machine? Was it a hot or cold image? Did you make any hardware changes in between creating the image and restoring the image? What is your HDD type and controller? Are you using RAID?
Since you have Ghost 15 (I'm assuming you have it installed as well) that you can use to backup and create a cold image as well I would recommend keeping it. You can use the Ghost 14 disk for restores as the image structure is the same between 14 and 15. Would that be acceptible?
I have a HPE 180T with Windows 7 Ultimate. I am using the Norton recovery CD. I created a cold image of the hard drive. This is a SATA hard drive and has four partitions without RAID. I am trying to recover the backup to a brand new SATA drive, on the same machine. I get the following error when the recovery is at 93%.
"Error EA730002: Cannot find the driver database directory".
I restart the machine, it takes couple of minutes and installs the drivers. Then it restarts but it only recovers the first two partitions. It is missing the other two partitions.
If all 4 partitions are on the same drive then it's likely related, but a different flavor of the problem. When you did the cold image, did you choose to verify the image when it was created? I'm assuming you created an image with all four paritions, correct?
I'll ask soemone to send you the Ghost 14 ISO to see if you can recovery without a problem with that tool.
I tried it out, to many steps to and disks to be keep track of. I am going to say it acceptible. I like the cold image feture but one program is better then two. I would like to down grade.
Could you send me a private message with your email address? I have an ISO I'd like you to try with to see if the same problem occurs during a restore.
You're in the same use case scenario. The product is working, but due to a problem with Windows PE it attempts to perform a cleanup an uses the incorrect driver set for this action.
This statement is absurd - your product is NOT working! To say that the problem is in Win PE only is ridiculous. Tell me, who has chosen to use this version of Win PE in your recovery disk? And who is responsible for testing if the so called "recovery environment" or should I say "no risk no fun environment" actually works? Second, it is your product that reports the error, not Win PE, so your product is well aware of the error. I conclude that it has not been tested sufficiently or it has been released although there was a known issue. The biggest problem is that we are talking about critical backup software here, not about a game, and this software is in version 15 now. In a normal company there are people who are held responsible for such things instead of just blaming Microsoft for everything. I think that customers are simply too patient with software. We are still waiting for a fix!
BTW, I am lucky that I had another backup with Acronis True Image otherwise I would still be unable to restore my computer. Why I did a second backup with Acronis? This is because I have never trusted and will never trust any of the marketing slogans of the backup software comanies saying that my data is safe. It is NOT safe, and this fact is confirmed again and again. And unfortunately the trend is to release new software faster without even testing it. But why not, the customers are going to test it - who cares about their data...

Was the backup created from the same machine? YES
Was it a hot or cold image? COLD Backup and Restore
Did you make any hardware changes in between creating the image and restoring the image? NO
