Please look into Soundblaster Drivers Conflict

Hello, I recently upgraded my soundcard to a Creative X-Fi Platiunum Fatal1ty Champion and after installing a windows 7 product identification module and driver for the soundcard I rebooted and ran a norton update.

The soundcard ID and drivers became disabled.

I ran a system restore and was surprisedto find that Norton had become disabled.

The Norton icon was displaying its usual "at risk" red x.

I ran a live update which cycled through an already dowloaded 75MB of definitions.

The Sound card and Norton work fine, but if I run an update or reboot, the card and/or Norton become disabled.

Here is creatives product support page:

Files used were:

PID_W7PCAPP_US_2_11_01.exe (ID module)

2.18.15 (driver) also tried the older driver 2.18.13

Hopefully eiher side can have this resolved as its quite an inconvenience.

Thanks

Hello uccellini

Please follow the instructions in this post from Tony Weiss ( Symantec Employee) about how to submit false positives.

Thanks.

Hi uccellini,

I have a Creative X-Fi Fatality XtremeGamer which is very similar to yours and uses the same drivers. I did not have any problems after upgrading to NIS 2011.

What Norton product do you have? Is your OS 32 or 64 bit? Did you or do you have any other security software installed before installing your Norton product? If so, how did you remove it? Security software requires using a removal tool supplied by the vendor before attempting to install a different security software. Uninstalling just through Control panel can still leave remnants behind which can cause problems with your new security software.

Thanks

Allen

Well I had my sound working fine, updated to NIS 2011, it asked for a reboot....

Rebooted and there isnt any video. The card is working, it has been tested in another rig.

I cant even get the BIOS screen to come up so I have no idea how to do a restore when I cant see anything.

Please help!

Edit: heh dont ask me why but resetting the CMOS brought the vidoe back, pretty wierd. All systems go......for now.

Have you run a compatibility test on the installer like the person in the link below?

http://social.answers.microsoft.com/forums/en-us/w7music/thread/ACA71C6C-15B2-41FA-8C32-E974C0187FDE

And like another poster asked, do you have the 32 bit version of Win 7 or the 64bit version?

Hello uccelini

That resetting of the Cmos battery may be indicative that the battery needs to be replaced. Have you had any problems with the time on your computer or the date?
