Hello, I recently upgraded my soundcard to a Creative X-Fi Platiunum Fatal1ty Champion and after installing a windows 7 product identification module and driver for the soundcard I rebooted and ran a norton update.
The soundcard ID and drivers became disabled.
I ran a system restore and was surprisedto find that Norton had become disabled.
The Norton icon was displaying its usual "at risk" red x.
I ran a live update which cycled through an already dowloaded 75MB of definitions.
The Sound card and Norton work fine, but if I run an update or reboot, the card and/or Norton become disabled.
I have a Creative X-Fi Fatality XtremeGamer which is very similar to yours and uses the same drivers. I did not have any problems after upgrading to NIS 2011.
What Norton product do you have? Is your OS 32 or 64 bit? Did you or do you have any other security software installed before installing your Norton product? If so, how did you remove it? Security software requires using a removal tool supplied by the vendor before attempting to install a different security software. Uninstalling just through Control panel can still leave remnants behind which can cause problems with your new security software.
That resetting of the Cmos battery may be indicative that the battery needs to be replaced. Have you had any problems with the time on your computer or the date?
