Police Central e-Crime Unit

Hi,

Re: Police Central e-Crime Unit

No doubt very similar to many other threads I would welcome advice and support to remove Cybercrime Virus from a laptop.

My initial steps was to use tips found on the web (2-viruses.com), and the steps they advised was to :-

  1. Reboot your computer and press F8 by the time it’s booting
  2. Choose Safe Mode with Networking
  3. Launch MSConfig
  4. Disable startup items rundll32 launching something from Application Data
  5. Reboot once again. Cybercrime Investigation Department virus should not load anymore.
  6. Download

I found that disabling two (rundll32)  files in the start up actually prevented the re-occurrence of the locking virus ‘Police Central e-Crime Unit’, and since having the operating system back again I did a full Norton antivirus scan.  I however noted that in the startup the two rundll32 files are still present and when enabled the virus locking screen appears again (so I’ve not got rid of it yet – right?)

I’m operating Vista Home premium SP2,  32 bit

Any help will be appreciated.

Many thanks in advance
