POLL: How many of you have had the background scan start while running a full scan?

Just curious as this has happened on my laptop a few times and it slows the scan time down big time so I cancel the scan I am running and let the background scan continue. My laptop has under GB so it is a big slow down.

NIS version 17.5.0.127 not sure if it ever happened before this update.

Hi mo,

I have had this happen to me when I was running a full system scan manually and left my computer; on coming back, there would be an idle full scan going on as well in the background. So I cancelled the idle scan, opened NIS 2010, and under "Settings" on the "Computer" tab, turned off Idle Time Scans (this, however does not turn off Quick Idle Scans) and scheduled a Full Systen Scan instead.

Hi mo,

I´ve also seen this behavior, and found out that it came once a week, mostly on sunday -mornings.

So I  said to myself, shift your other actvities to do these when this nearly frustrating event happens.

After shifting I feel better and  I don´t care anymore about it.

Mo,you can find something to do as well.

Try it out, it´s worth it !!

Hi

I find that the Idle Full System Scan works better and is the default setting, so I let that do it's thing once a week. You know when the idle full system scan is going to run because it starts 7 days from when the last idle full scan finished running, to the minute if your computer is idle at that moment. Put the idle time down to 1 minute from the default of 10 minutes and it will complete more quickly since if it does get interrupted, it doesn't take that long to start up again since idle time is only for 1 minute.. If I  want to do a manual scan, then I do it at some other time.

Sounds like I must have fluked it and manual scanned at the wrong time:smileysurprised: Made a note of the time and date so will see what happens in a weeks time. Thanks for your very helpful answers.
