Which NIS version are you running (open NIS >Support >About) and which is your OS?
Please also check if date and time on your system are correct.

The message may not have anything at all to do with your NIS installation. There is a free Norton Security Scan Program, that can be installed and run and is sometimes included in some other downloads - it's considered a PUP (Potenitally Unwanted Program) by some users.
I ouwld first suggest to remove it via the Control Panel Programs & Features (Add/Remove Programs) and then read on if no help.
There ae a few threads found on a Gioogle search about it - but this thread seems to be the most helpful:

My OS is Windows XP, Service Pack 3
My time and date are accurate

My Add/Remove Programs does show a separate program Norton Security Scan vers. 2.3.0.44 at 10.31MB
Have you tried to uninstall it as youwould any oter prgoram?

Tried removal using Add/Remove in Control Panel and program is now removed from Program List there.
Not certain what caused it to popup in the first place, so will restart computer and run it a few days to make sure it is truly gone, then click "resolved".
