to everyone one in this awesome community of great people have a safe and happy new year...lol

Please add the same local ports as well. Remote ports are on the other machine (server), and local ports are your "doors".

Hi, fjk1,

There are indeed some security risks associated with port forwarding--see, for example:

And unfortunately, while Norton would theoretically offer you another layer of protection aside from your router, the fact is you'll have to allow the traffic through its firewall as well.

That said, port forwarding is a common requirement for serious gaming, especially when running a server. So at some level you're just accepting the risk--at least while you're playing the game/running the server. But you can take a few measures if you're uncomfortable with that, like only doing it temporarily (which of course could be awkward if you're trying to run a server!) and being very careful about who you share that fixed IP address with!

Here's another thread with a few more details and links to technical information on how to do it (albeit for Minecraft rather than Black Ops--the principle is the same):

Let us know if you have any more questions; perhaps one of our gamer Gurus can offer more/better info!

Happy New Year to you as well!

Hello

It is perfectly safe to play online games and to port forward or use port triggering on your router and have the necessary ports open in your Norton firewall. I am an online player and use NIS for years now safely. You can set Norton so that it doesn't interrupt you while playing and at the same time protects you also. Norton will add security to make up for the open ports which are created by port forwarding. If it wasn't safe, it wouldn't be provided. For further information, you can look over www.portforward.com. I beleive that is the correct website.Just play on safe servers.

Of course being that I’m trying to use docker this isn’t my first rodeo and if it’s a xfinity issue I fear weeks of sitting on the phone going through the tech support playbook

Hello. Have you port forwarded these ports in your Xfinity router advanced settings?
