I installed a game from Replay Games (Leisure Suit Larry Reloaded) last year. As far as I know, everything was copacetic.
Also last year I upgraded Windows 7 to Windows 10. Maybe that was a mistake. I had a lot of problems with the upgrade, which I blamed on W10. Norton Antivirus scans always showed nothing wrong. Then I ran Norton Power Eraser. It correctly identified another piece of software as a virus source. I uninstalled that one and many of the bugs went away.
I still get off-and-on buggy behavior. I ran NPE again, and it told me Larry Reloaded was bad. It also gave suspicious ratings to two other programs, but did not recommend removal of those. (Apparently these ratings have nothing to do with actual viruses -- just lack of Norton Community experience with the programs.) OK, I uninstalled Larry Reloaded, but I'm wondering just how reliable NPE scans are. As far as I can tell, Replay Games is a clean vendor.
Has anyone else had this sort of experience with NPE?
