Power Eraser and Firewall

While running Power Eraser a message popped up that the firewall had been disabled and asking which firewall I wanted to enable.  Why was the firewall disabled?  I'm a novice but that seems dangerous.

Hi Francis,

That seems very strange. I just tested the latest NPE with windows firewall enabled and did not see such behavior.

  1. Can you share a screenshot of what you saw when NPE asked to disable the firewall?
  2. Were you using the windows firewall or some other product?

Thank you,

Jeff

Hi, Francis. Why were you running Power Eraser ? It is a powerful last resort tool which can delete needed files if you don't know what you're doing.

Do you have the green tick in your tray area ? If so, Norton should be working properly.

Also go to Control Panel > Security and Maintenance > Security and check that Windows Firewall is off and Norton's is on.

If you're running Norton Security Norton will use its firewall, but if you have Norton Anti Virus only, then the Windows firewall will be used.

Check this, and then restart the computer to check that all is as it should be.

Any problems, get back to us.
