Preparing for install of NIS 2009 - Am I doing it right?

Hi all,

I am preparing for a NIS 2009 install and just wanted some opinions on what I should do to prepare.  I'm actually installing the program on my PC and for someone else as well, our systems are similar except for a couple of things.

PC #1: I currently have NIS 2008 installed on a Windows XP Home system.  Service Pack 3 is installed as well.  SP3 was installed after NIS 2008 and I have not had any issues (thank God, I looked through the forum and these two things seem like they don't always get along).  SP3 was my main concern and looking through the posts it's hard to tell if it's still an issue.  Anyways, my PC also has Norton Antibot installed, which I understand I may as well delete as it's incorporated into NIS 2009.  Other security software installed: Counterspy (active protection) and Spy Sweeper (not active).  I've never had problems with other antispyware not liking Norton and vice versa.  My plan is:

1. Set a Restore Point

2. Delete NIS 2008 through Add/Remove Programs

3. Delete Norton Antibot

4. Run the Norton Removal Tool

5. Start the PC with no programs running

6. Install trial version of NIS 2009

7. My subscription to NIS 2008 is still valid, so I will just need to enter my subscription key

How does this sound?  Will NIS 2009 get along with SP3?  From what I've read the fully up-to-date NIS 2009 should be fine, and I trust that's the version that I will be downloading (i.e. the trial version).

PC #2: Is pretty much the same except there is no Norton Antibot installed, no other security software, but it does have Norton Systemworks (2006 version I think).  Does Systemworks need to be uninstalled at all?  I've read comments that the removal too will remove all Norton products, but past experience with Norton tells me that there is a specific removal tool for NIS.  I might be wrong on this though.  Anyhow, my plan with this PC is the same as above other than step 3 which doesn't apply.

I'd also like to say that I've been using Norton for about 12 years now (many different versions on many PCs).  It's almost never given me a problem.  I understand Norton has had issues in the past (resource hog) but honestly this slowness just hasn't impacted me to the extent that it seems to have impacted others *shrugs*.  But what is nice to see is how positive the response has been to the 2009 version.  And it's cool to see Symantec always adding features and improvements to the product.  I'm sure there are other companies who strive for this each year as well, but I've seen yet others who release bascially the exact same product with maybe just a minor facelift, and protection is middling.  That's not to say everything Symantec has tried has worked, but it at least appears that they aren't resting on their laurels.  And I appreciate having this forum as a very detailed resource.

Thanks in advance to those who reply!
