Preventing Deletion Selected Cookies

Please. How do you stop Norton Internet security 2012 from deleting only certain cookies such as my bank web page cookie that automatically fills in my bank account numbers?

Hi FrankCO1,

What browser are you using?

Please. How do you stop Norton Internet security 2012 from deleting only certain cookies such as my bank web page cookie that automatically fills in my bank account numbers?

I am using IE9. My Norton Interent Security 2012 only has an option to turn the browser protection on or off. I was hoping to only prevent deletion of only one particular cookie from my Web based bank account page so I could keep my login information.

I am assuming that it is Nortons deleting my cookies when it scans my computer.

Can I stop this one cookie from this web site from being deleted?

Thank you,

Frank

I don't think it is Norton that is deleting this cookie, as Norton only deletes tracking cookies, and banking site cookies do not fall into that category.  It is most likely a browser setting.  Try adding the bank site to your Favorites.  Then click Safety > Delete Broswing HIstory or, on the menu bar, Tools > Delete Browsing History.  Make sure that "Preserve Favorites website data" has a checkmark and then click Delete to remove your browsing history or Cancel to leave your history intact.  Also check you cookie settings under Internet Options > Privacy to make sure that first-party cookies are allowed.

I have done what you suggested. The settings were set as you said they should be. However after deleting my history the tracking cookie I need is still there. It could be something else causing this problem but for now my problem is fixed.

Thank very much for your quick response to my inquiry.
