Hi,
Not sure where this question might be best allocated,
I have been a NIS users for some years. My PC recently became infected with a "Trojan dropper" and I paid the folks at Symantec to remove the offending beastie. NIS 2010 has also recently located and removed a "TrojanSasfis" in an attachment sent with spam and it has also quarantined and removed "ise32.exe containing w32.Spybot.Worm on two occasions recently.
I am wondering if NIS might not have screened out the "Trojan dropper" and as such I wonder if NIS would usually prevent infection but missed it on this occasion? I realise that there are a large number of variables that come into consideration here however the cost of paid technical assistance is a tad prohibitive albeit a means of dealing with the issue for the technically challenged.
I also note that this forum has some self help advice on malware removal that may become useful in the future.
Is there any likelihood that Symantec might offer a subscription in the future that includes a moderate level of assistance for malware removal for a higher premium? The recent removal cost me AU$133 and took some 5 hours and two technical staff to finally rid my machine of the malware.
