Hi,
i`ve got a mysterious Problem with Norton AntiVirus 2012 19.8.0.14. Since a couple of weeks, perhaps since the last bigger Update, the following happens:
We have some customers with USB-Drives with a executable program one it. All customers that are using Norton AntiVirus or Norton 360 in the actual version receive the problem.
When u open a TXT or an PDF file from the usb-drive, there is no problem. Everything works fine.
But if u start an .EXE file, for example an FirefoxPortable.exe it takes 2 seconds and an Windows error Message with an E/A error occures and the USB-drive gets disconnected from the PC. The Explorer window freezes and the PC seems kind of broken down. This happens under Win7 and Win XP SP3 on different type of PCs with different Hardware but only with that one type of USB-Device.
When i use another type of USB-Drive this wont happen. But a) we`ve got this Drives out in the field now and cant replace them and b) this Problem occures only since the last 3-4 weeks. Bevor that, there was no Problem.
I tried any workaround that came to my mind
- excluting the drive
- excluting the .EXE file
- disabling NA completly etc..
But nothing worked for me..
I hope that somebody here has a hint for we, what i can do?..
Thx
Mathew
