When using IE8 to access certain sites (like farmville.com), I am advised I need to download the latest Adobe Flash Player. I did that, and installed the Active X control when prompted, but still am receiving this error. I tried to downgrade to IE7, but that did not resolve the issue (which just started about 2 weeks ago). I just upgraded back to IE8 and still have the problem. What am I doing wrong? All my Internet Options are at default.
I tried removing Flash by itself, all Adobe programs, and all Adobe Programs and IE8, then reinstalled each one by one starting with IE. I am still experiencing this issue. Since it does not occur when using Firefox, I assume it is some security or privacy setting I have enabled, or disabled, but I cannot figure it out. Is it possible there is a setting in Norton 360 that could be causing this issue?
Hi mdturner. I tried that, and the adobe add on was disabled, but enabling it, and restarting did not resolve the issue.
I can load the page http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/191/tn_19166.html#main_VerifyIE and see my version using Firefox. If I load the same page in IE, it shows all the same info, but the box showing my current version is empty and just has an X in the corner.

I would suggest uninstalling Adobe Flash Player using their removal tool for the version of flash player that you have. Reboot your computer and then install a fresh copy of the flash player making sure that you have picked the correct version. I believe that the Adobe site also has a page for trouble shooting flash installation problems.
This is just an update on my issue - I was unable to view pages using Adobe Flash Player while using IE. I finally figured out the issue...I have Spyware Blaster, and after playing with it for a few weeks, I finally realized there was a completely seperate setting that blocked flash objects from loading at all. One quick click to disable it, and I can use flash player on IE now (I use Firefox, and it never had a problem with flash).
