I just recently purchased NIS 2009 (running version 16.1.0.33) and it was running very smooth on my XP (sp3) system up until last week when I noticed that there was a conflict with an imagining program I use called First Defense-ISR.
I was getting multiple ERROR messages when copying/updating snapshots and the log file showed that it was due to something Norton related. Also at the same time, I was getting some XP error messages stating that Norton was corrupted and to run "CHKDSK."
This has been reported by several NIS 2009 + FD-ISR users. I have contacted the author of FD-ISR and he stated that the problem is due to Norton and not his software.
I've never encountered this issue with NIS and FD-ISR until recently. Hopefully there is a solution to this issue.
Below is a link to the thread on FD-ISR's support site that discusses this matter.
Thanks.
