When I view my daughters activity in NOF it shows the time as being 2-3 hours ahead of my computer time. Is there a way to fix this? I saw one post that talked about making sure the Web supervision was on and mine is.
Thanks

Thanks Katie. My time is fine on my computer and I just started to notice it. When I just looked now at 7:30AM EST it was showing items for 9:45AM.
I'm a little technical but baffled by this.
Mary
maisy,
Thanks for the update. Is your computer's clock automatically synchronized by an Internet time server as indicated in my last post?
Thanks,
Katie
Katie
I'm not sure about that. How can I tell?
Mary
maisy,
Please check out the link from Microsoft in my previous post.
If you have any questions, please let us know.
Thanks,
Katie
Thanks Katie
It is setup to sync with microsoft. Is that the problem?
Mary
Hi maisy,
Please tell us what type of Operating System and version of the PC do you have e.g. Windows XP SP3?
Do you use any other time sychronization program on the PC?
Thanks,
Katie
Katie
I am using Windows Vista 6.0 SP 2 on a HP G60 laptop and not other synchorization software installed.
Mary
time entries that are displayed on the website are directly related to the time on the machine that you are viewing the website from.
Can you check the time settings to see if they are observing daylight savings? we've occasionally had problems with this.
Andrew
My control panel is set to synchronize with time.microsoft.com. My computer is set to observe daylight savings time. I reinstalled Online Family on my laptop and it still has the wrong time. Also is it possible to turn off norton safety minder from the users end?
Thanks Andrew
yes, it is possible to disable the safety minder from the child's machine. Parental login information is required in order to do that.
perhaps it might be helpful to generate an event (like a blocked site) on the child's machine and double check the time on the site.
It also might be valuable to confirm the time on the child's machine as well.
She is on the laptop that i am on currently. I'm pretty sure she doens't know my password to shut off safety minder but I believe somehow it has shut off. I did try going to a website logged in as her and then checked the log and there was no entry for what I had just done and the other entries for the day still had the wrong time. Should I just try and reinstall all of Norton security?
Thanks
Mary
There is usually a small delay between the time an event (like a blocked site) occurs and the time when it is displayed on the web site. It should usually take about 5-7 minutes before it appears in the activity list on the web site.
There is nothing wrong with uninstalling and reinstalling the Safety Minder on the latptop, none of your data will be lost, and it's worth a try to resolve this issue.
Would you be willing to log into the Norton Online Family web site from another computer and see if the times are still wrong?
Andrew
Checked it on my desktop and it is correct. That machine is running WIndows XP and it is setup to get time from the windows internet server. It is still turning off and I'm pretty sure my daughter doesn't know my password but I am going to change it again right now.
Thanks
Mary
