Not sure if this is the correct location to post my questions

The problem that cause me to visit this forum is I have purchased a new laptop with Vista so I’m not sure if I have some type of spyware or if it’s Vista

Twice when using Internet Window Explorer all at once Explorer will automatic starts opening new windows the only way to stop is to shut down.

So I thought I would use AutoFix, however I rec’d a message each time I tried that reads Loader stopped working  A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  What could be the problem??

Early I did a scan and Norton finds Tracking Cookies I click apply action, and it was fix

Then later I did a full scan thinking that might be better again it found Trackiing Cookies

Should this be happening this often?

 Thank you for your time

Hi kyshine,

I don't have the issue with Explorer, however,

I have XP Home and just yesterday I had the same problem with Autofix not completing

because loader stopped working.

I've tried several times with the same negative result. So why doesn't it work?

It's supposed to be a help tool for fixing problems, instead it creates them.

Might as well not have it in NIS 2008.

@stu: I think if something doesn't work when it should work perfectly, that is a worry.

Firstly, I would make sure that your virus definitions for your Norton product are current, which you can do by running LiveUpdate through the product. Also, which product and exact version are you using? If you Click HELP & SUPPORT in the product, then ABOUT, you can find the full version. The reason I ask is because depending on the product and version, you may be eligible for a free update to the latest version.

Next, it would be a good idea boot your system into Safe Mode and run a full system scan. If any malware is found, I would recommend noting the name of the malware, and taking the recommended action by your Norton Product. If your product cannot take any action, I would then recommend visit http://www.symantec.com and searching the site for the malware. Some malware items require a specific set of steps for removal, or specific fixtools that we provide.

If this doesn't resolve the problem for you, and you still think your system is infected, I would then recommend that you follow the steps listed in the How To Troubleshoot a Suspected Malware Infection announcement. While they are complex steps to remove malware, it is also very thorough. Please let us know if you have any questions. Thanks!

I did a Live Update for Norton Internet Security and still receiving the same message

I started in safe mode the only item found was one Tracking Cookie

Another strange thing tonight I was sending an email I enter a letter in the send to box and an email address appear.  I have never enter the email address before and this is a new pc I'm the only one uses it?

So not sure what to think??

Have you followed the instructions in my previous post? If so, what were the results? If you had not been told, there is an update to Norton Internet Security available at http://www.norton.com/NIS09. This update is available to all customers with a valid NIS 2006 or later subscription. Perhaps applying the update will help resolve this issue. If not, please provide a bit more information on the system you are using and the versions of Symantec products that were installed on your system. Thanks!

It’s possible. Nothing to worry about
