Hi all. I have the Comcast offering of Norton Security Suite with Identity Protection turned on and use google Chrome as my browser. I've had this configuration for quite some time and it has always worked perfectly.
This morning when I went to the outlook.com site to check my email I got a message saying that I needed to update my browser and/or Norton Security Suite but if I didn't I would still be able to acess my mail but some features such as chat might not work.
I clicked on "contine without updating" and it displayed the outlook mail page for about a half second and then displayed the top half of the Norton toolbar and blanked out everything else. It did the same thing for the outlook calendar page.
I exited and checked the Chrome version and it said it was up to date (Version 34.0.1847.116 m). I then ran LiveUpdate on Norton and it downloaded and installed something. Given that nothing changed it was probably just the virus updates but I don't really know.
When I tried to access my email again it did the same thing as before except it didn't display the interim page telling me that I needed to update some things.
It isn't a problem on other web pages such as Face Book -- they still work just fine.
I then disabled the toolbar in settings/tools/extensions and tried again and it worked fine. I also discovered that the outlook calendar page was behaving the same as the email page. Toolbar on = blink&blank. Toolbar off = display ok but no identity logon function.
I found a couple of posts online that seemed to be the same issue as mine but the threads ended without a solution. I also found a Norton blog saying that there was a compatibility problem with Identy Protection and the google Chrome browser and that a patch had been released. However, I didn't see a lik for downloading the patch and, as I said, I couldn't tell if LiveUpdate downloaded and installed it or not -- only that the problem still existed.
I tried disabling the menu just for those pages but it is re-enabled each time chrome starts.
Does anyone know if this problem is solvable and, if so, how?

Thanks. I'm on NSS v 21.2.0.38.
The problem started this morning while Chrome automatic update was still disabled. It was after I got the message telling me that I needed to update it that I enabled updating. After I updated to the most current version of Chrome (Version 34.0.1847.116 m) it quit finding an extension for Norton Identity Protection. It finds the app but of course that's already installed.
Live Update has been run several times but only found something one time and I have no idea what it found. Could have just been the virus signature update.
I uninstalled Chrome, which had been installed in a local user account and reinstalled it as an administrator but that didn't make any difference.
I guess I'll just have to wait until Norton comes out with an extension that is compatible.
Thanks again,
Howard
