Hi, I have both Ghost 12 and N360 V2.0 on my PC and when they are installed at the same time I get an error message that a Norotn 360 process has stopped working and I need to reboot to ensure continued protection.  Using event viewer I can see the process involved is ccsvchst.exe which is the process in question.  Any ideas?

My OS is Vista x64 Home premium with sp1 and fully patched.

What was installed at first?

Hi, 360 was installed first and then Ghost. It was also on a failr clean Vista install as I'd only recently re-installed and put sp1 on before any other updates.

And 360 was not screaming when installing Ghost?

No, Ghost installed fine with no problems. It's only later I get the problem with ccsvchst

Hi,

I look @ google for people who had/have the same problems. The most of them have a virus on their PC. I don't believe that there's a interference  with Ghost 12 and Norton 360 V2. Perhaps you should run an online virus check. Perhaps a virus kill the ccsvchst.

I know sounds not good and I hope  for you that I'm not right.

Cheerio

Try reinstalling in the reverse order.  The only thing in common between the two would be the CD/DVD burning driver.

I’ll try that and let you know how I get on.  Thanks

Just reinstalled today. Firstly removed everything with the latest NRT, then installed Ghost and then 360.  Seems to be working ok so far, will keep you informed of developments!

Thanx for the update.
Good to hear it is working now

I've always wondered about "ccsvchst.exe" and "svchost.exe."  I haven't had any inteference with these two as far as the Norton programs, but I have mulitiple instances of the latter in the Task Manager.  When I ran a search on my computer, I found that "ccSvcHst.exe" is located in the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared" folder.  The file "svchost.exe" is located in my Windows folder.  I thought they were virus-related myself, but apparently not.

The latter is an annoying and repeated instances that seems to keep loading itself for no apparent reason.  I tried double clicking on it and nothing happened.  I've also deleted several instances of "svchost.exe" from my Task Manager and it had no effect on my computer.

I already had Norton 360 v2 on my computer, then installed Norton Ghost last night without a problem.  I uninstalled the add-on pack a few days ago because it was a P.I.T.A. conflict with some hardware and software.  I think when and if software becomes internal hardware, we will all see fewer problems--and bootleg software will be a thing of the past (hint hint).

ccSvcHost is the main framework application for the Norton security products.  svchost.exe is a windows component.  It is the process by which Windows loads several of it's core services.

Moved to a thread of its own for better exposure.
