Uninstalled NIS 2008 (with no add-ons) by Add/Remove Programs. Downloaded NIS 2009 and Norton Security Inspector online. While downloading NIS 2009 I kept my Identity Safe (IS) settings. I have just noticed that a few listings that appear in the IS Managed Log-In do not appear on the Norton Toolbar. My question is: How do I get those listings from the IS Managed Log-In list to the Norton Toolbar list? Looked at the instructions for NIS 2009 and couldn't find the answer. Also I would like to add "Very Impressive Security Software".
Hi ProTruckDriver:
I had the same issue (several times) in both the Beta and the final version of NIS 2009 with certain logins showing in the program when logged in to the backend of the program, but not showing in the drop down list. Mine only seemed to disappear when:
1. I had saved the file from within NIS 2008 and then opened/imported into 2009.
2. Seemed to be mostly when I used the 'folders' feature of NIS 2009 (folders for the logins which makes it much easier to organize the logins).
On my computer I found that for the logins that did not show in the browser drop down, if I deleted them, and re-added them, they worked fine from there on out.
Matthew
Hi All,
In NIS 09 we do not automatically fill pages that look like registration pages. You can however manually fill these page from the "Cards and Logins" menu by going to the "Available Log-ins for this page" menu.
This is probably why you are not seeing the logins in the toolbar. If you think that this is not the reason why the logins are missing, then we will need to know which sites are missing from the toolbar. You can send me a private message with the URLs that you are having problems with and we will post any workarounds or new information that we have for you.
Thank You,
Govind.

Thank you Matthew for the advice. I tried it that way and it works now, just had to reboot after deleting than re-add same login. And thank you Govind for your advice, if I have any problems with log-ins I'll send a PM.
Having problems with Identity Safe again. Noticed a few log-in websites on ID Safe was not autofilling and logging on. Deleted website from Managed log-in file, rebooted and tried to start from beginning to add Web Site to ID Safe. Web site would add to the Managed Log-In file list but failed to appear on the Cards & Log-In drop Down List. One example of log-in web site is Costco.Com.

This site was working fine until I tried to log on today. Any suggestions on this problem ?
I have noticed similar issues with the IS database. I think it all goes back to an issue called “chinese characters”. Supposedly, Symanted has discovered the cause of that problem and is working on it. I suspect that the fix for one will be the fix for the other.

I sent a PM to gsalinas with this URL. See what Symantec comes up with on this problem.
So what is duel core anyway?
Hello,
I have been reviewing this issue and I we will be working on a fix for this site. I can state that this does not have anything to do with the previous "Chinese character" problem that mijcar mentions. This is simply a problem when identifying the login form on the page.
If you are encountering other sites where Identity Safe is not able to fill or save your logins, then let us know about it so we can take a look.
Thank You,
Govind.

A Dual Core Processor ( duel core, spelling error??) is where 2 independant cores are inside the one CPU, Pentium 4 and back only had a single core.

Thanks, I didn't even notice the spelling. I guess I'm getting old, can't see now I can't spell even with Check Spelling. lol.

I couldn’t resist asking. I had this image of some malware infected system in which the various cores were dueling with one another. Perhaps that accounts for a number of the postings here.

Here's another web site:
It seems to me that this is a linguistic/topological problem.
It's not like Norton actually reads the minds of each site and knows which blank is intended for a password and which for a user name, etc. There are clues that Norton uses. I am guessing that the word password close to a blank would suggest that that blank is used for a password. But proximity is not as easy to determine as all that. I have seen identifying labels above, below and to the left of the blank with which it is associated. I have seen words other than "password" or "user name" or "screen name". I have seen labels closer to another blank than the one with which they are supposed to be associated. Believe it or not, there is a lot of math, geometry and topology, and strange algorithms associated with this process. Done really well, we have the visual equivalent of language recognition. Anyone out there familiar with the headroom necessary for a DragonSpeak (and the resulting slow down)?
I seem to have an issue like this and have a thread open, but no employee has looked at it, as I may have a reason why it is happening.
The thread is http://community.norton.com/norton/board/message?board.id=nis_feedback&message.id=14204&query.id=323162#M14204 to save me typing it out again
Cheers
Hello,
The entries in the toolbar menu will auto-submit logins to that site. So when you disable the "Enable Login to be Auto-Submitted" setting, we remove them from the menu so there isn't any confusion. Perhaps you are want the to disable the "Auto-fill when I visit this page" setting, which will prevent filling unless you do so manually.
Thank You,
Govind.
Hello Govind,
I used to use this instead of using my favourites. One site that has an issue with the auto-submit is www.tesco.com, as it returns an error message and reloads the page. This is then filled in again and works fine if I click the submit button. I think it has an issue with there being two submit buttons on the page for existing customers and new customers.
I will give the lower suggestion a try to see how it works and let you know either way
Thanks for your help,
Terry
