Problem with Live Update on Norton Mac Antivirus 12.6 (26)

I transfered my Norton antivirus software to a new mac, disabled my old computer's account at the Norton site and entered the appropriate activation code.

When I try to turn on Virus Protection on the new computer I recieve the message "AntiVirus Auto-Protect could not load the scan engine. Please run LiveUpdate"

When I run LiveUpdate, it reports that it is downloading a series of items, each larger than the previous. The downloads stop with the message "An error occurred. Please try again"

I've repeated this process several times without any change in the result.

I'm running MacOS X 10.9.2 and Norton AntiVirus 12.6.

Any idea how to fix this?

Thanks for the help!

Hi Dhulsey,

i) Live Update issue can happen in common when no recent updates downloaded or live update engine might be an older version / got corrupted. You can download and install the live update definitions by visiting this link here

ii) If the issue still persists, Please try re-install the Norton Program. To uninstall, go to the quick search text box at right top corner type "Symantec Uninstaller" and ran the uninstaller

iii) To reinstall the Norton Program, for Norton Antivirus it is www.norton.com/latestnavmac and for Norton Internet Security it is www.norton.com/latestnismac

I hope this helps you....
