Hi every one I have a problem with my norton internet security. I have a message that my computer is at risk becouse my viruses and spywire definitions are not up to date but when I trying to update I have meesage that protection updates are not fix . Anybody now haw to fix this many thank.
warh3ad,
It looks like you can get rid of the red Xs by running live update a few more times and rebooting between each time. You can quit when the program tells you that all of the updates have been downloaded AND installed.
You may be working with two different copies of Norton. When you reimaged your computer you installed the copy of Norton that was included there? Was the copoy you were running one that you installed AFTER you had your computer up and running for a period of time? The difference in days would be explained by the change in copies which would also have changed the activation keys.
Your replies will help us help you further. Thanks

Thank you Phil, I'll try it.
@dickevans
When you reimaged your computer you installed the copy of Norton that was included there? Yes.
Was the copoy you were running one that you installed AFTER you had your computer up and running for a period of time? Yes. I bought my norton internet security after it.
Thanks for responding.
Follow Phil's instructions and all should be well

PS: when you get everything back in working order be sure to stop back and mark this thread 'solved' so others won't be tempted to try and 'fix' the problem.
Wow! Great! It worked, but the only problem is that I have 15 days remaining on my subscription (normally had 154). I have one more question about that. I bought my norton internet security product at a store and I don't quite remember if there was a "product key" on the package anymore, because my aunt has it. Does anybody know if the same product key would work that I used earlier for my norton before I reinstalled? And did she use the same product key which I used before? I'm going to visit her this weekend, and I'm curious if the product key is on the package and if I can just write it down on a piece of paper and when I get back it would work for my norton, and give me back the amount of days I had left before? But on the other hand, I am very thankful for your guys' help.
I appreciate it very much! Thanks again!
If you created a Norton Online account, you can find your product key from this link.
If you backed up your documents before re-installing Vista, you can also find the product key in My Documents > Symantec. Look for a .txt file named Norton Internet Security_Key.
Sadly I don't see it :(
Do you know if my other post is a good way to get my product key back? Will that work?
So, you did not create a Norton account online? Or, you can't find it in "My Documents'?
The product key would not be on the outside of the retail box, but enclosed inside.
If the contents of the packing is intact, you should be in luck. You could also check your Aunt's computer under My Documents > Symantec.
I have a norton account, but I did not find the key there. Also, I bought the norton package at a store(not sure if it matters). Also, my documents folder is empty. After I reinstalled windows vista, all the files got wiped out and erased.
So if I find a product key inside the package would I be able to use it for my computer and get the amount of days back which I normally had?
If you can access your Norton Account, under Product Name you should see "Norton Internet Security".
Click the small arrow to the left of that to expand all the pertinent information.
Wow there we go! I wanna thank you so much for helping me out today ;) I appreciate it very much! You're awesome! Thanks everybody else who put effort into helping me out too!
It was my pleasure!
And, thank you for the kind words.
Allow me to leave you with one piece of advice; back up your documents. You never know when you might need the backup.
Be well.
Hi once again.. I was having some problems with my computer (nothing to do with norton), so I had to reinstall my vista. So everything practically got erased on my computer but I did have an option asking me if I wanted to run norton. I obviously clicked yes, and norton has been enabled. But since I reinstalled my computer, I'm not sure if norton will be able to work as it did.
At the moment, my norton internet security has a red X sign on it meaning it's at risk. I am logged into my norton account, and it says I have 60 days remaining on my subscription (I normally had 154). Anyways, I am able to do everything normally (even though my norton design looks different), I am able to scan my computer, and stuff but there are two things saying that they are at risk.
Here is a screenshot of what my norton currenty looks like: http://oi54.tinypic.com/22ygrr.jpg
If anybody has any idea how I can get my norton to secure my computer again I'd appreciate it very much, and also how to get those subscription days back :P Thanks!
