There's only one option for the cookies and it's "Tracking Cookies Scan" and of course I want the tracking cookies to be removed but not for the trusted sites as " Yahoo, Gmail, ... ".
I've been using NIS for 3 years and this option has always been set to "Remove".
So I don't think it should be the problem, unless one of the recent updates has a bug relating to this issue!
There is another option on the button of ask me whether this provides a list or not I’m not sure, if it does then you might like to identify the cookies you want to keep and delete the ones you don’t. I don’t have this problem so I’m just making suggestions.
I tried it, but it seems you can't exclude the cookies you want.
Besides I checked the cookies that were marked to be removed and none of them were related to the sites I mentioned ( Yahoo, Gmail, ... ) which makes sense. Cause The IDs and Passwords are not lost, I only get signed out.
Have you recently updated your browser? This sounds like a browser setting for your cookies.
Norton does not affect a logged in status of your web sites. The setting you see for keep logged in is just for you to stay logged into your Identity Safe vault.
Let's backup - which browser are you using? The reason I ask is IE is my browser of choice. If I go to Tools > Internet Options> General Tab > there is a section called Browser History whicih provides an option to delete temporary files, history, cookies, saved passwords and web form information. There is a box which when checked will delete Browsiing History on exit. Please ensure that is not checked or if you use a different browser - try to find the corresponding option on your browser and see if that is the culprit.
I'm using IE 10 and no it's not checked. I'm fully familliar with IE and I'm pretty sure that the problem has nothing to do with my browser settings. As I mentioned I get logged out ONLY AFTER running a NIS scan even withing oppening/closing my browser!
It's really weird, Cause I haven't changed the IE settings for ages and I run the quick scan on a regular basis ( once a week ) and I didn't have this problem before. It started just recently!!
As robert100 indicated; this is a known issue and there are several threads in this community on the subject. The problem doesn't exist with IE9; it started with IE10. IE10 probably started saving cookies that contain login information, etc. a little differently and NIS hasn't been updated to accommodate those differences. I suspect the cookies that contain this information are being swept up in that catch all called "Orphan Cookie Removal"!
Whether it is a Microsoft or Norton problem might be a point to argue, but it is painfully obvious that Norton appears to be ignoring it while many of us suffer the consequences. My work around is to set the Tracking Cookie Scan to "Ask Me" or "Ignore" and run CCleaner to remove cookies periodically. CCleaner lets you exclude specific cookies where NIS apparently doesn't. In NIS if you click "Exclude" after a Tracking Cookie Scan and Report; all it does is change the Tracking Cookie Scan setting to "Ignore" and nothing is reported after that on subsequent scans.
Gook luck; there are a number of us in this boat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
