My hubby and i were getting a popup from Norton this morning when trying to send emails from our Outllook 2007 & 2010 . The message was ‘too many errors’ . Didn’t see a error code, but just might have missed that. The emails were in the Sent Folder of Outlooks, but the receipents never received them.
Does anyone know what happened? Outlooks work fine now, but curious.
Thanks
Barb
send a mail to yourself and check whether you are receving the error
The problem did stop; however all the emails we tried to send this morning did not get sent - even though Outlook 2007 & Outlook 2010 had them in the 'Sent' Folders.
My husband has Outlook 2007 on his Win 7 computer and I have Outlook 2010 on my Win 7 computer. We both have Norton 360 v 5.1.0.29 on our respective computers. Both of us were getting the pop-up from Norton regarding our emails....we could receive emails, just not send.
The problem did stop, but what was the cause of it? Must have been a N360 quirk since it happened to 2 different computers. Did it happen to others using Outlook???
Am not sure about that are you both connected on a same network
We're hooked up to the same internet connection via Router. We have separate email addresses and use the same mail server. This was a definite Norton pop-up, not a message from our mail server (we've had problems with the mail server in the past not responding, but never anything from N360). Neither one of us had ever seen this type of N360 pop-up before.....and since we WERE receiving emails during that time period, our mail server was working. I could send emails from my iPod Touch (it's on the same WI-FI Router) but of course, there is no N360 on my iPod Touch. N360 just wouldn't let any emails be sent from either of our machines that have N360 installed.
Since my husband works from a Home Office, he needs to have email conductivity.....this did cause him some business problems.
Could it have been a N360 Definition Update problem that was corrected within a few hours??
Symantec knows this issue and patches will be released soon . No need to worry
Hello Again
Hello Again - seems that this problem has re-occurred. We are getting this same error. Our Mail Provider says it's not their fault, but a problem with Norton. Since then the update to Norton has happened, so the version is slightly different now. What's causing this problem???? We can RECEIVE emails, but we cannot SEND emails. The pop-up says: "421 4.7.0 crane2.rainyday.ca Error:too many errors" (crane2.rainyday.ca is our Mail Provider) It is definitely a Norton 360 Pop-up.
Please help
I am having a similar problem...Outlook won't send emails. My provider indicated it is a problem with Norton 360. I haven't seen a fix posted. Has Symantic issued a solution?
Hi Billinda66
We finally resolved this problem by de-activating the Outgoing Email Scan. Hope that works for you.
How did you de-activate the outgoing email scan?
Go to Settings, then Antivirus, then Scans & Risks, then configure+ Anti-Virus Scan. Then uncheck the Outgoing email scan. Leave the Incoming email scan CHECKED
