Hi, almost everyday I lose connection to the internet and after running the dianostic it says norton firewall can help fix this problem. after a minute or so norton displays this message, Communication blocked by Norton Intusion Prevention System. UDP communication with IP XXX.XXX.X.XXX for svchost.exe blocked by Norton Intrusion Prevention Autoblock. it gives me a couple options to manually change some settings but not sure how anybody is supposed to know what to do. If i dissconnect my router and restart my computer this solves the problem but becomes a pain when doing it 2 or 3 times a day. If anybody has any idea how to fix this I would be grateful.
Hi I'm sure its norton internet security 2012

Hi ross4690:
If you are sure that it is NIS 2012 by looking under Support -> About then let's try the following...
Basic procedure for reinstalling NIS 2012.
All to be completed with Administrator-level privileges.
Download the Norton Removal Tool located here and save it to your Desktop.
Next, download NIS 2012 from here and save that onto your Desktop as well.
Export all Identity Safe Data (if any) and make a note of your Product Key - you will need it for the reinstall.
Next, open the Control Panel and click on Add/Remove Programs (XP) or Programs and Features (Vista/7)
Uninstall NIS 2012 from the list and reboot your computer.
Run the NRT and reboot. Afterwards, run the NIS 2012 Installer Package.
Run Live Update until all updates are exhausted. A reboot or two might be required.
Please verify that you have NIS 19.5 at that point (check under Support -> About) If not, please run Live Update again.
Check all functionality. Let us know if the above corrects your issue.
Thanks,
Atomic_Blast :)
hi yes definately 2012 and its 19.5, i have tried removing it and downloading it previously as i called norton sometimes before xmas and they tried this. But this did work but only for about a day then problem started again. Any ideas
Hi ross4690,
Try resetting your Router back to software Factory Defaults.
If that does not work, I would try following the above procedure exactly.
I'm under the assumption that your system meets the Minimum System Requirements.
Please let us know what happens.
TIA,
Atomic_Blast :)

Can you look in Norton Security History under Intrusion Prevention for corresponding entries and see if there is a specific attack that is named? Also, is the IP Address the router's address or an internet address?
