Problem with send/receive email after update to 19.5.0.145.
Have since forced a resolution but I received the 19.5.0.145 version when manually checking for updates this morning (morning in UTC-8:00 anyway). After the reboot for the update I could not receive email in Outlook 2010 32-bit on a Windows 7 64-bit system. All accounts showed different errors trying to receive email including cannot find server, password rejected, timeouts, etc., and this included accounts from different email systems.
First restarted Outlook with same result although the errors reported by Outlook were not the same before or more correctly, the same account did not show the same error as previous although the same overall list of errors was reported as well as I can remember anyway. Decided to reboot the system but same problems continued. Looked in Norton Full History and didn’t see anything obviously wrong.
Was going to start up in safe mode so rebooted but changed my mind and let system reboot normally which was now the third reboot since installing the 19.5.0.145 update. After this reboot everything worked normally.
Since reboot was the only real troubleshooting I cannot say what the problem actually was. Have been through the Full History for today a few times and do not see anything obvious. Thought that it was worth mentioning although not sure if this helps anyone.
Thanks Unknownone. Do you recall any of the error messages? Can you find any of the errors that occurred with Outlook? Has anyone else seen these errors with NIS 19.5?
No - the Enable troubleshooting logging in Outlook is unchecked by default and therefore was off. I went through every category and log using Event Viewer but cannot find anything that indicates that Send/receive events, including errors, are otherwise logged. If I missed something where these types of messages would be logged, please let me know.
What I posted earlier is my best recollection as I usually ignore send/receive errors as they so often are transient events corrected in the next send/receive be that automatic or manual. The thing that was so highly unusual was that these were only associated with receive and affected each and every email account/address in Outlook and were never the same error or at least ones that had completed as I tended to cancel and then close Outlook once I was aware that receive was globally failing. Again, something "magically" corrected this after the third reboot following the 19.5.0.145 installation.
That my computer was selected some 24 hours after the test rollout was to have commenced also seems strange, perhaps the test rollout, or perhaps beta test is more accurate, scheduled January 27 was delayed 24 hours?
This recaptcha garbage is also asinine. If they cannot use real words in the designated language then find something more reliable..
Sorry about the reCAPTCHA, I've turned it off for your account.
As for the issue, without any details about the error or it occurring again, and with no one else reporting the same thing, it's difficult for us to determine the cause of the issue. If anyone else sees this same issue, please let us know. We are very interested in issues that happen after updating to NIS 19.5. Thanks.
