Problems after downloading Norton 360 V5

My Norton System Works 2009 software failed to get an update to the Noton Antivirus software which will not expire until December 7, 2011.  After I clicked for additional help, it stated that I was entitled to get a to a software upgrade.  After a few clicks, I downloaded Norton 360 V5 and had it go through the prcoess of upgrading my antivirus software.

After the update was completed, It asked me for an activation code.  It would not take my Norton System Works activation code.  Since I still have a couple months left on my existing software license, it does not make any sence for me to upgrade at this point.  If Symantec gave me the option of adding a year to my existing license for this new product, I might consider it.

Since Symantec will not support a product that it sold a licese to me last year automatically (I turned that off a couple months ago), I am stuck with the option of going to a software in which Symantec is unable to send virus definition updates or pay for a new license that I do not need yet.

Please advise.

Since I can not edit my previous post, I got help from a symantec person on the phone who straighten out my situation.

I was delightfully surprised by the good support that I got.

Thank you,
