Problems after renewal

SO I renewed for another year and almost immediately regretted it. The morning after I renewed some sort of error came up and one click support suggested I use the Norton removal tool and reload N360P. I rebotted and the error didn't come back.

Two days later, this morning, I turned on the PC and the "Symantec Framework needed to close" meassage appeared not once but twice!! I haven't rebooted and it seems that Norton is working.

Also, yesterday I opened the PC and it said "new Programs installed". I looked and it was a Norton security scan. I asked my Wife if she downloaded something and she said no?!?!

I put the PC in safe mode and did a full system scan with Norton AND Malewarebytes. Both came up clean. I've unistalled the security scan but somthing seems to be "going on".

Any ideas?

I'm on XP media center and Norton 360 Premier Edition

    Hi Yogesh,

I ran the power eraser and it detected no risks....so maybe the security scan did come with some automatic update for Adobe etc - I've disabled all auto updates through start up manager. However, it still doesn't explain the Framework crashing and the prompt to reload Norton...especially that it hasn't done it again...2 days later

Question though; It was strange that you suggested my using the power eraser, as I have 360premier...isn't that the best product Norton offers? I've seen other threads talking about NIS 2011 and how great IT is. Should I switch to NIS? I don't even use the online backup as it takes soooo long to upload/delete etc.

    Thanks

    Hello 360premier

N360 is for the person who likes to install a product and basically leave it alone. Besides having the backup program and some utilities in it, it is usually behind NIS. By that I mean, NIS has the newer version out already so that it is NIS 2011 and N360 usually gets the update to the new product in the Srping time, well in March or April. NIS has a lot more tweakable settings you can use.

The use of the Power Eraser is also suggested by some in the NIS forums also. As far as the basic security protection, I think the protection is about the same once the newer version of N 360 comes out. The new version of N360 will be based on the same engine as NIS 2011 is.
