Problems after updating to 22.22.9.11

Updated from 22.22.8.15 to 22.22.9.11 couple of days ago, no apparent differences except version number. From version update announcement should have been option to change default scan to either Smart, Full or Quick, was still showing the yellow 'SMART' default on front page with default options not available. Done remove & reinstall, reinstall actually installed 22.22.8.15 but it was not as was before updating to 22.22.9.11, SMART scan had disappeared & been replaced with the old quick scan default, likewise messages had gone from top bar & MY Norton. Updated to 22.22.9.11, still all as just reinstalled 22.22.8.15 with Smart Scan & messages missing. Done full remove & new install couple of times, 22.22.8.15 initially installed each time with items still missing, likewise no change when updating to 9.11. 22.22.8.15 released mid-September & everything was there, so why is the currently downloaded version from Norton different with the above omissions & why is 22.22.9.11 update not bringing up to current specification. Also noticed, when auto Norton Insight runs, no task notification appears although it used prior to updating.

Currently Norton 360 Deluxe running on Windows 10 Home with all current updates installed

One of the main reasons for doing all above, was that original update from 22.22.8.15 to 22.22.9.11 was that 'Task Notifications' were not working (were in 22.22.8.15). Now back up to 22.22.9.11, task notifications not working still. Option turned on; no other settings changed except to my standard set that I have been using for years. No Windows settings changed.

I use Office Outlook for email, under ani-virus, Scans & Risks option, have Display Progress Indicator, that has not worked for quite a few updates back, but it used to.

Both Desktop & Laptop now with 22.22.9.11 - installed versions identical to the old 22.22.8.15 without default scan option available. Don't know if this is just coincidence, previously removed current device, then I downloaded from my account by clicking on 'Download', that download when installed was not the true previous 22.22.8.15 with Smart scan & Messages missing. The downloaded & installed version that installed the true 22.22.8.15, I got by clicking on 'Install On New Device' after removing that device. Both cases, received email with link to download, strange, but each link took me to a different web page. By 'Remove & Reinstall', got incorrect 22.22.8.15, doing 'Download' got incorrect 22.22.8.15, only by following link from Install on new device did I get correct version. Respective downloads were less than a few hours apart so have Norton got two versions of 22.22.8.15 in the system? There again, with the incorrect 22.22.8.15 installed, why did updating to 22.22.9.11 not bring those features back?

Managed today to get original 22.22.8.15 back, not gone to 22.22.9.11 yet. Previously was using what was then current 22.22.8.15 downloader installation file obtained from DOWNLOAD button in my Norton account, that was 3 days ago. Downloaded again from same source, done full remove again, installed from new N360Downloader, as if by magic, the previous 22.22.8.15 has the yellow SMART SCAN button & the two Message icons restored, these were the ones 'missing' from previous version. Conclusion can only be the previous 360 Downloader was for something other than the correct version although, what-ever it related & installed was NOT 22.22.8.15, that was what the version number recorded after a remove & reinstall & 3 full remove & installs. Thanks Norton. Give it a couple of days, then will update to 22.22.9.11 & see if the default scan options setting is available as per Product Updates Blog.

I am assuming if I have been running 22.22.8.15 for a good 3 weeks, that same identical version would be downloadable as both Smart Scan & Messages have been part of Norton for at least 12 months, Norton seem to have lost their way last couple of months, last count I think there has been something like 4-5 product updates released. Just what I have at the moment is identical to what I had installed 12 months ago.

Thanks for response

Support message states "Some features are being throttled".

So your version may be different than mine and others even though version number matches. Norton's way of beta testing a release I assume.

I have had always had issues with the way Norton releases their updates. Seems to me that if have version number 100 it should look and perform exactly like version number 100 that you have.
